East Asian Studies at McGill

Heirs to ancient cultures and traditions that are rich, complex, and too little known in the West, East Asian societies are among the most dynamic and rapidly developing in the world today. Their impact on the international scene is increasing, both economically and politically. The study of the languages and cultures of East Asia, whether at the Honours, Major or Minor level, offers the student an intellectually challenging and personally stimulating educational experience. In addition to offering a different perspective on the human condition, the programme provides excellent preparation for a future career in professions involving international business management, education, law, journalism and communications. This department also offers the necessary training for advanced study at the graduate level.
